Why do you have flags on your shields?
The ships shields reflect the flags of the 5 Scandinavian Nations of Denmark, Finland, iceland, Norway and Sweden with the addition of Greenland (where Leif started his "westviking") and Canada (where Leif ended his voyage of discovery and exploration).

Where are you located?
LEVS organization is incorporated in Pennsylvania, USA; most members are from the Philadelphia area and vicinity, although we do have members all over the country and in Europe, too. The Norseman is documented out of Philadelphia, but stored in a shed at the Kalmar Nyckel Shipyard in Wilmington, DE.

Where do you go when you go to events?
In the United States, LEVS focuses on the Mid-Atlantic area: Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Maryland. The organization has also traveled to Texas, Virginia, Washington DC, and Ohio. LEVS has also traveled to Newfoundland, Canada; Stockholm, Sweden; and St. Petersburg, Russia! We travel wherever we are invited, and can afford to go.

Are you involved in SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism)?
No, we are not, although we do try to dress more historically accurate than we did in the earlier years. Our ship's shields are not historically accurate; our organization decided to display the representative countries' flags instead of using more historically accurate shields.

Why do you do this?
Each member has their own reasons - some have become involved because they are interested in the historical aspect, others because have pride in their nationality, and yet others because they enjoy the travel and sailing.

How can I get involved?
We'd love to have you come to events, or invite us to YOUR event. You can also become a "Friend" member and receive our newsletter, or become a "Voting/Crew" member and participate in our board meetings and/or help us at events. Or, you can help us cover our operating expenses by giving us a donation, or purchasing our merchandise. Check "About Us" for more information.

Can I get a copy of your newsletter, brochure, etc.?
We will be posting our newsletters on our website in the LEVS Files section. Feel free to print out your own copy to pass around to others. Please send a note with your comments about articles, content or whatever, to NNeditor@Vikingship.org. Constructive criticism is always welcome.
